How and When to Get Paid
Understanding the payment timeline is fundamental for managing your income as a helper. This guide explains everything about when you receive your money, how to verify payments, and what to do if there are problems.
Complete Payment Timeline
Timeline from Acceptance to Payment
Day 1, 00:00 β You accept job
Day 1, 00:00 β Payment pre-authorized (customer card blocked)
Day 1, 02:30 β You complete job, upload photos
Day 1, 02:30 β Customer can confirm immediately...
Or...
Day 2, 02:30 β Auto-approval after 24h without dispute
Day 2, 02:30 β Payment captured from customer's card
Day 2, 02:31 β Instant transfer to your Stripe balance
Day 3, 10:00 β Payout arrives in your bank account
Result: ~24-48 hours from completion to having money in your bank.
Phase 1: Pre-authorization (When You Accept)
What is Pre-authorization?
When the customer confirms you:
- Their card is blocked for the job amount
- The money is NOT charged yet (only blocked/reserved)
- Guarantees customer has funds
- Customer cannot cancel without penalty
Analogy: Like when you pay at a gas station - they block β¬100, then charge the actual amount.
Do You See This Money?
NO. Pre-authorization is invisible to you. Only the customer sees the block in their bank statement.
For you, the job shows:
- Status: "Accepted"
- Payment: "Pending job completion"
Pre-authorization Duration
- Valid for: 7 days
- If you complete before: Payment is captured, pre-authorization becomes real charge
- If you don't complete in 7 days: Pre-authorization expires, money released to customer, job canceled
Why pre-authorize?
Pre-authorization protects both parties:
- Customer: Only pays if you complete the job
- Helper: Customer can't cancel without reason (money already blocked)
- ReciGo: Reduces fraud (verifies customer has funds)
Phase 2: Payment Capture (When You Complete)
Capture Trigger
Payment is captured when:
Option A: Customer confirms immediately
- You mark job as "Completed"
- Customer receives notification
- Customer reviews and taps "Confirm"
- β Payment captured instantly
Option B: Auto-approval after 24 hours
- You mark job as "Completed"
- Customer does NOT respond within 24 hours
- β System auto-approves and captures payment
Option C: Dispute (delays payment)
- Customer disputes before 24h
- βΈοΈ Payment held until resolution (2-5 business days)
What Happens During Capture?
- Customer's card charged (pre-authorization β real charge)
- ReciGo commission deducted (15% fixed)
- Transfer to your Stripe Connected Account (instant)
- Payout scheduled to your bank (1-2 days)
Numerical example:
Job price: β¬50.00
ReciGo commission (15%): -β¬7.50
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
Transferred to your Stripe: β¬42.50
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
Payout to your bank (1-2 days): β¬42.50
Notifications You'll Receive
π "Job completed!" (when you mark complete) π§ Email with summary of job and pending payment
Then:
π "Payment captured - β¬42.50" (when confirmed) π§ PDF receipt attached to email
Phase 3: Transfer to Stripe Balance
What is Stripe Balance?
Your Stripe Connected Account has a "balance":
- Intermediate place between customer payment and your bank
- Updates instantly after capture
- You can see balance in real-time
- From there, payouts to your bank are scheduled
Access your Stripe balance:
- Open ReciGo app
- Go to Account β Helper Settings
- Tap "View Stripe Dashboard"
- Log in (first time requires setup)
- Section "Balance" β Shows available balance
Instant Transfer
When payment is captured:
- β‘ Immediate transfer to your Stripe balance
- No delay (less than 1 second)
- Appears as "Available for payout"
View in Stripe Dashboard:
- Balance β Available: β¬42.50
- Recent activity: "Transfer for job #12345"
Balance vs. Payout
- Balance: Money in your Stripe account (it's already yours, but not yet in your bank)
- Payout: Transfer from Stripe β your bank account
You can have high balance and wait for payout, or make immediate payouts (depending on settings).
Phase 4: Payout to Your Bank Account
Payout Schedule
Default: Automatic daily payouts
- Stripe attempts payout every business day
- If your balance > β¬1, payout is scheduled
- Payout arrives in 1-2 business days from scheduling
Example:
- Monday 10:00 β Balance β¬42.50 available
- Monday 10:30 β Stripe schedules automatic payout
- Tuesday 09:00 β Money arrives in your bank (1 day)
- Or Wednesday 09:00 β If your bank is slow (2 days)
Available Payout Frequencies
You can configure in Stripe Dashboard:
Daily (recommended for active helpers)
- Payout every day you have balance > β¬1
- Receive money constantly
- Better cash flow
Weekly
- Payout every Monday (or day you choose)
- Accumulates money from whole week
- Single transfer (fewer movements in bank statement)
Manual
- You decide when to make payout
- Useful if you prefer accumulating to β¬500-β¬1000
- Avoids fees if your bank charges for received transfers
Change frequency:
- Stripe Dashboard β Settings
- Payouts β Payout schedule
- Select desired frequency
- Save changes
Minimum Payout Amount
- Minimum: β¬1.00
- If your balance is <β¬1, wait until you accumulate more

Common Problems and Solutions
"I didn't receive my payment after 3 days"
Step 1: Verify in Stripe Dashboard
- Was payment captured? (Status "Paid")
- Was payout scheduled? (Section "Payouts")
- Payout status? (Paid / In transit / Failed)
Step 2: Verify job status in ReciGo
- Is status "Paid β "?
- Or still "Completed - Pending"? (customer hasn't confirmed yet, wait 24h)
Step 3: Verify your bank account
- Correct IBAN in Stripe?
- Account holder name matches your KYC verification?
- Account active? (not blocked/closed)
Step 4: Contact support
- Email: helpers@recigo.es
- Subject: "Payment not received - Job #[ID]"
- Include:
- Job ID
- Completion date
- Stripe screenshot showing payout "Paid"
- Bank statement screenshot (last 5 days)
Bank timelines may vary
- Most banks: 1-2 business days
- Small banks/credit unions: up to 3 days
- Weekends and holidays do NOT count
If you completed job on Friday, payout may arrive Tuesday (Friday β Monday 1 day β Tuesday 2 days).
"Payout failed (Failed)"
Common causes:
- Incorrect IBAN in Stripe
- Account holder name doesn't match
- Bank account closed/blocked
- Bank rejected transfer (excessive anti-fraud)
Solution:
- Check specific error in Stripe (usually says cause)
- Correct IBAN if incorrect:
- Stripe Dashboard β Settings β Payouts β Bank account
- Update IBAN
- Verify it's an account in your name
- Stripe re-tries payout automatically in 1-2 days
- If it keeps failing, contact your bank (may have security block)
"I received less money than expected"
Verify:
- Did you calculate commission? (Job price Γ 0.85 = what you receive)
- Are there multiple jobs in same payout? (Stripe groups same-day payouts)
- Did customer tip? (Added to final amount)
Example of common confusion:
- Job: β¬50
- You expect: β¬50
- You receive: β¬42.50
- β "β¬7.50 missing"
- β Explanation: ReciGo commission 15% = β¬7.50 deducted
View exact breakdown:
- ReciGo app β Payment History β Tap specific payment
- Shows line-by-line breakdown
Tips
How Tips Work
Customer can tip:
- From app after completing job ("Tip" button)
- In cash during job (your decision to accept)
Digital tips:
- Added to payment automatically
- No additional ReciGo commission (100% for you)
- Included in same job payout
Example:
Job price: β¬50.00
ReciGo commission (15%): -β¬7.50
Customer tip: +β¬5.00
βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
YOU RECEIVE: β¬47.50
Cash tips:
- Don't go through app (private between you and customer)
- No fee or commission
- You must declare them in your tax return (if applicable)
Don't actively ask for tips
Explicitly asking for tips can seem unprofessional and affect your rating. If the customer wants to tip, they'll do it voluntarily.
It's okay to mention discreetly:
"If you were satisfied, the app allows optional tipping. Thanks for using ReciGo!"
