How to Delete Your ReciGo Account

If you decide to leave ReciGo, you can permanently delete your account. This guide explains the process, what data is deleted, and what alternatives you have.

Why do you want to delete your account?

If it's because of annoying notifications:

If it's because of problems with a user:

If it's because of temporary inactivity:

  • → Simply stop using the app (no fees)
  • → Disable "Available for jobs" (helpers)

If it's because of privacy:

  • → Review privacy settings
  • → Remove sensitive information from profile

Requirements Before Deleting

You must complete:

  • ✅ All active jobs
  • ✅ Resolve pending disputes
  • ✅ Withdraw pending balance (helpers)
  • ✅ Cancel future jobs

You cannot delete if:

  • ❌ You have active jobs
  • ❌ You have open disputes
  • ❌ You have pending payments
  • ❌ You're suspended (must wait until suspension ends)

📱 How to Delete Your Account

Step by Step

  1. Open the ReciGo app
  2. Go to Account (last tab)
  3. Tap Settings (âš™ī¸)
  4. Scroll to the bottom
  5. Tap "Delete account" (red text)
  6. Read the warning
  7. Select reason for deletion:
    • No longer need the service
    • Privacy concerns
    • Bad experience
    • Found better alternative
    • Other (specify)
  8. Type your password to confirm
  9. Tap "Delete permanently"
  10. You'll receive confirmation email

Email Confirmation

After requesting deletion:

  1. You'll receive email in 5 minutes
  2. The email contains confirmation link
  3. You have 24 hours to confirm
  4. Tap the link to confirm deletion
  5. Your account is deactivated immediately

If you don't confirm in 24h:

  • The request is automatically cancelled
  • Your account remains active

Personal information:

Financial data (helpers):

  • ✅ Stripe Connect information
  • ✅ Payment history
  • ✅ Bank details

Photos and files:

  • ✅ Job photos
  • ✅ Profile photos
  • ✅ Uploaded documents

Data That's Kept (Anonymized)

Due to legal and tax requirements:

We keep for 7 years (legal requirement):

  • Invoices and transactions (without your name)
  • Aggregate tax data
  • Audit records

This data:

  • ❌ Doesn't contain your name
  • ❌ Isn't linked to you
  • ❌ Isn't publicly accessible
  • ✅ Only for legal/tax compliance

Example:

Before: "John Smith paid â‚Ŧ50 for job #12345"
After: "Anonymous user [ID hash] paid â‚Ŧ50 for job #12345"

Data Visible to Other Users

Ratings you gave:

  • Remain visible (anonymous)
  • Appear as "Deleted user"
  • Cannot be traced back to you

Completed jobs:

  • Other user's history shows "Deleted user"
  • No photo or name
  • Ratings remain

âąī¸ Deletion Timeline

30-Day Process

Day 0 (request):

  • You request deletion
  • You receive confirmation email

Day 1 (confirmation):

  • You confirm by email
  • Account is deactivated immediately
  • You can no longer log in
  • Other users don't see your profile

Days 1-30 (grace period):

  • Your data is kept (in case you change your mind)
  • You can reactivate your account by contacting support
  • After 30 days, no longer possible

Day 30 (final deletion):

  • Personal data permanently deleted
  • Only anonymized data remains (legal requirement)
  • No going back

Reactivate Account (First 30 Days Only)

If you change your mind:

  1. Contact support@recigo.es
  2. Subject: "Reactivate deleted account"
  3. Provide:
    • Account email
    • Account phone
    • Reason for reactivation
  4. Support will verify your identity
  5. Account reactivated in 24-48h

After 30 days: Impossible to reactivate. You'll need to create a new account (without history).

💰 Payments and Refunds

For Customers

Active jobs:

  • You must complete or cancel them before deleting
  • You cannot delete account with pending jobs

Pending payments:

  • Are processed normally
  • You'll receive refunds on your card (if applicable)

ReciGo balance (if exists):

  • You must spend it or request refund before deleting
  • Not refunded automatically

For Helpers

Pending payments:

  • Are transferred to your bank account before deletion
  • Wait 3-5 days for processing

Stripe balance:

  • Withdraw all balance before deleting
  • Stripe keeps your data 7 years (legal requirement)

Tax information:

  • ReciGo must report your annual income to tax authorities (DAC7)
  • This happens even if you delete your account
  • You'll receive the tax report by email

🔐 Security and Privacy

What Happens with Your Data in External Services

Stripe (payment processor):

  • Keeps data 7 years (legal requirement)
  • You can request deletion directly from Stripe
  • stripe.com/privacy

Email services:

  • Emails sent remain in your inbox
  • You can delete them manually

Google/Apple (if you used Sign-In):

  • ReciGo notifies them you deleted your account
  • You can revoke access in Google/Apple settings

Export Your Data Before Deleting

GDPR right: You can request a copy of all your data.

How to export:

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy
  2. Tap "Export my data"
  3. Select what data you want:
    • Profile
    • Job history
    • Messages
    • Ratings
    • Transactions
  4. You'll receive ZIP file by email (24-48h)
  5. Download and save

Format: JSON (human and machine readable)

🆕 Create New Account After Deleting

Can You Come Back?

Yes, but:

  • ❌ Without previous history
  • ❌ Without previous ratings
  • ❌ Without completed jobs
  • ❌ Starting from zero

Restrictions:

  • Must wait 30 days after deleting
  • Cannot use the same email (use a different one)
  • Can use the same phone (after 30 days)

Process:

  1. Wait 30 days
  2. Download the app
  3. Register as new user
  4. Verify phone
  5. Complete profile
